Wat Khok Salut is located at No. 70, Ban Khok Salut, Moo 3, Ban Rai Subdistrict, Bang Krathum District, Phitsanulok Province. This ancient temple belongs to the Mahanikaya sect and occupies a total area of 17 rai, 2 ngan, and 10 square wah. The temple’s boundaries are adjacent to local villages to the north and south, the Nan River to the east, and an irrigation canal to the west. Land title deed No. 8772 verifies the property. The temple sits on a flat lowland near the Nan River, making it suitable for religious activities and educational purposes, as a government primary school is located within 7 rai, 3 ngan, and 15 square wah of the temple grounds.

The temple compound includes an ordination hall (ubosot) measuring 8 meters wide and 20 meters long, built in 1957, and a sermon hall (sala kan parian) measuring 20 meters wide and 32 meters long, constructed in 1942. There are five wooden monks’ quarters used for residence and meditation, as well as five stupas. Sacred objects are enshrined in the ordination hall, sermon hall, and monks’ quarters, making the temple an important center of faith and historical value.

Wat Khok Salut was first established around 1657 BE (2200 Buddhist Era), originally named “Wat Intapat,” and has undergone several restorations. It received the official temple boundary (wisungkhamasima) on February 5, 1957, and the boundary stones were enshrined on March 10, 1962. The temple has been led by a succession of abbots including Phra Athikarn Huan, Phra Athikarn Chueam, Phra Athikarn Sombun, Phra Sutkarawinich, Phra Athikarn Charoen, Phra Athikarn Poi Uttamo, Phra Kru Phisan Thammavimon, and Phra Athikarn Somchai Achan, totaling nine abbots.

In addition to being a spiritual center for the community, the temple serves as a hub of religious education and cultural learning. It is located approximately 43 kilometers south of Phitsanulok city along the Phitsanulok–Wat Chulamani–Bang Krathum route. Visitors turn right to cross to the west side of the Nan River for another 2 kilometers to reach the temple. Wat Khok Salut is not only a place for Buddhist rituals and ceremonies but also a cultural and historical tourism site where visitors can learn about local history, traditions, and ancient Thai art.

Wat Khok Salut blends the characteristics of an ancient temple, historical significance, and community development roles. Visitors can experience peace, faith, and the cultural values of Thailand, preserved for over 800 years. The surrounding scenery of the Nan River and irrigation canals provides a serene atmosphere suitable for meditation and learning.

This temple is a center for religion, culture, and education, playing a crucial role in preserving Thai traditions for future generations. For travelers interested in exploring and experiencing authentic Thai culture, Wat Khok Salut is an appealing destination, reflecting the beauty of Thai heritage and history through its architecture, sacred objects, and centuries-long spiritual practices.
