This site serves not only as a correctional space but also as a structured pre-release preparation center that emphasizes discipline, responsibility, and real-life occupational skills that inmates can apply after completing their sentences. Today, the facility has evolved into a recognized learning center welcoming official study visits from government agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations across Thailand.

 

The Open Prison Model implemented at Khao Kling is grounded in rehabilitation rather than strict confinement. Inmates selected for transfer to this facility must demonstrate good behavior and strong potential for social reintegration. The operational framework focuses on life skills development, emotional regulation, teamwork, and self-reliance through agricultural activities and basic craftsmanship training.

 

The center’s core activities include chemical-free agriculture, integrated livestock farming, organic fertilizer production, wood vinegar processing, earthen house construction, and forest planting for ecological restoration. The entire area is organized under a circular agriculture system, where waste from one activity becomes a resource for another, reducing operational costs and minimizing environmental impact.

 

From a social perspective, the center functions as a bridge between the justice system and the wider community. By opening the area for organized study visits, it helps reduce social stigma, foster understanding, and demonstrate that structured rehabilitation can genuinely create new opportunities for inmates. Getting There The center can be reached by private car from Phetchaburi city center, following main roads toward the Khao Kling subdistrict.
