The Overflow Weir in Sa Kaeo Province is a peaceful local relaxation spot located along a natural canal in Khao Chakan District. Surrounded by rice fields and small rural communities, the area offers a simple, laid-back atmosphere where visitors can sit by the water, soak their feet, enjoy the breeze, and spend a quiet day in nature without any rush.

 

The highlight of the weir is the fish farming area located right in front of it. Local villagers raise fish in floating cages along the canal, allowing visitors to observe the fish swimming in clear water at close range. Fresh fish from the cages can also be purchased directly from the farmers and taken home for cooking. It is a genuine glimpse of local livelihood and everyday life in the area.

Getting to the Overflow Weir The weir is located in Phra Phloeng Subdistrict, Khao Chakan District, Sa Kaeo Province, near the Phra Sa Thueng Canal. From Mueang Sa Kaeo, take Highway 317 toward Khao Chakan, then turn onto a local rural road leading into Phra Phloeng Subdistrict. Follow map directions to the weir area. Most of the route consists of paved or concrete roads suitable for private cars and pickups.

 

For those without a private vehicle, travelers can take a bus to Sa Kaeo City or Khao Chakan District and then hire a local taxi or motorcycle service to reach the weir. A daytime visit is recommended for safety as well as better visibility of the fish cages and the surrounding rural scenery.

 

The best times to visit are in the morning or late afternoon when the sunlight is soft and temperatures are comfortable.
