Mae Koeng Luang and Mae Koeng Noi Waterfalls are among the most scenic natural attractions in Phrae Province, located within Wiang Kosai National Park in Wang Chin District. These waterfalls feature around 7 cascading tiers resembling natural stair steps. The name “Mae Koeng” comes from a local dialect meaning “stairs.”

Mae Koeng Luang Waterfall is easily accessible, about 1 km from the park headquarters. Mae Koeng Noi requires a longer trek of about 2 km through forest trails, offering a more immersive nature experience.

The waterfalls are known for their layered rock formations, creating a unique stair-like flow. Surrounded by lush greenery, the area remains cool and refreshing year-round, especially during the rainy season when water flow is strongest.

These waterfalls are part of a larger ecosystem feeding into the Yom River at Ban Sop Koeng, highlighting their importance in both natural and local community water systems.

Getting There involves traveling via Highway 101 (Phrae–Wang Chin) and entering Wiang Kosai National Park. From the headquarters, visitors walk approximately 900 meters to Mae Koeng Luang and 2 km to Mae Koeng Noi.
