Wat Na Wai Folk Museum is located at Wat Na Wai, No. 66, Village No. 8, Ban Na Wai, Bo Kaeo Subdistrict, Na Muen District, Nan Province. It is an important local learning center of Na Muen District and part of the Thai Cultural Community Network project of Bo Kaeo Subdistrict. The museum preserves local heritage through palm-leaf manuscripts, traditional paper manuscripts, old Buddha images, livelihood tools, and objects that reflect the way of life of people in Na Muen.

 

The museum is valuable as a temple-based community museum. It does not focus on large-scale modern exhibition design, but on the preservation of meaningful local objects connected to religion, daily life, folk knowledge, and community memory. Visitors can understand how Wat Na Wai serves not only as a religious center but also as a cultural learning space for the local community.

 

Important objects inside the museum include palm-leaf scriptures, old manuscripts, traditional Lanna paper documents, ancient Buddha images, tools used for local livelihoods, and household objects. Wat Na Wai belongs to the Maha Nikaya monastic order. The temple originally had an area of 1 rai, 2 ngan, and 54 square wah. Later, three additional plots of land were donated, bringing the present area to 4 rai, 1 ngan, and 66 square wah. It is located east of Na Muen District Office, about 600 meters away, and about 80 km from Nan city.

 

The temple compound is clean, shaded, and peaceful. It has many kinds of trees, including large trees, flowering plants, decorative plants, and medicinal herbs. A stream flows in front of the temple throughout the year, creating a cool and relaxing atmosphere. This makes the museum suitable for visitors who want to experience a quiet local cultural site in southern Nan Province.
