Wat Sao Cha Ngok Sao Changok, Bang Khla, Chachoengsao. It is a temple of the people belonging to the Mahanikaya sect and has been built for a long time. It is located in Village No. 1 of Sao Cha-ngok Subdistrict on the banks of the Bang Pakong River. If you travel by water, you will see the view of Sao Cha-ngok Temple, which is located on the beautiful bank.
The statue of Luang Pho Leu is the former abbot of Sao Cha-ngok Temple who has been dead for more than 90 years. He is famous for his phallus, which men like to hang with a rope around their waists. There is a story that he can bless it to float against the current.
Sao Cha-ngok Temple was established in 1813 by Mr. Nuch and Mrs. Yang, residents of Khlong Song Phi Nong, Bang Khla District, Chachoengsao Province. They were the ones who initiated the construction of the temple by donating approximately 6 rai of land to build the temple. At first, there was a monk's hut with a thatched roof. However, around 1837, the temple and relatives and devotees began building a 5-meter-wide and 8-meter-long chapel and monk's huts.
However, due to limited funds, the construction was not completed. Later in 1849, Khun Phas (Rang) and the villagers jointly carried out additional renovations to the temple, including the ceremony of tying the boundary markers in 1849. Later, on 29 September 1914, Mr. Chiem, the son of Mr. To and Mrs. Klin, who lived in Khlong Ban Mu, donated 48 rai 96 square wa of land to Wat Sao Cha-ngok as temple land. Later, on 11 February 2000, Mr. Chalerm Decha-suphaphong donated 1 plot of land, covering 3 rai 3 ngan 40 square wa.
Wat Sao Cha-ngok received the royal charter of boundary markers in 1969. The reason it was called Wat Sao Cha-ngok is because there is a legend that the bride’s betrothal procession was carried by boat to ask for the bride’s hand in marriage. When the procession was approaching, the bride looked up at the procession and fell from the house to her death. Later, the bride's parents donated this land to build a temple, so it was named "Wat Sao Cha-ngok" as a memorial to the deceased.
Inside the temple, there is a famous monk who is highly respected by Buddhists, namely Phra Khru Nanthirachan (Luang Pho Lue). He created red yantra cloths to distribute to soldiers during the war. But what is most notable is the phallus inside the temple, which has a replica of the Buddha's footprint, which is over a hundred years old.
