Cha-om Tree Relocation Village, Saraburi is one of Thailand’s largest sources of mature transplanted trees, widely known in the landscaping and horticulture industry. Located in Cha-om Subdistrict, Kaeng Khoi District, Saraburi Province, this community consists of over 17 villages and more than 290 households that specialize in cultivating and selling large trees as their primary occupation.

 

The area’s natural conditions—fertile soil, sufficient water supply, and favorable climate—make it ideal for growing strong and healthy trees. These trees are carefully cultivated over many years until they reach maturity, allowing them to be relocated and replanted immediately without requiring long growth periods. This makes Cha-om trees highly desirable for landscaping projects such as resorts, hotels, residential developments, and urban design projects.

 

Tree relocation, known locally as “mai khud lom,” involves a specialized process of preparing large trees for transplantation. This includes root pruning, soil wrapping, and safe transportation. The local community has developed deep expertise in this technique, passing down knowledge through generations, making it a valuable form of local wisdom.

Getting There The village can be reached via Highway 1 (Phahonyothin Road) heading toward Kaeng Khoi District. From there, follow signs into Cha-om Subdistrict. Traveling by private car is recommended due to the wide area and dispersed tree farms.
