Khok Kham Coastal Bird Watching Area, Samut Sakhon is one of Thailand’s most significant coastal ecosystems, located along the inner Gulf of Thailand. The area combines mangrove forests, shrimp farms, and salt fields, creating a rich habitat that supports a wide range of small marine life such as shrimp, shellfish, crabs, and fish. These organisms form the primary food source for many species of coastal and migratory birds, making Khok Kham a well-known destination among birdwatchers.

 

The landscape is characterized by vast mudflats formed by natural sediment accumulation. Travel Information The area is easily accessible from Maha Chai town. Cross the Maha Chai canal bridge, then take Highway 3243 and turn left onto Nikhom Sahakon Road. Continue for approximately 7 kilometers to reach Khok Kham, where multiple birdwatching spots and mangrove areas are located along the coastal route.

 

The best time to visit is during early morning or late afternoon, especially at low tide when birds gather on the mudflats. Birdwatchers are recommended to bring binoculars or zoom lenses for a better viewing experience.
