Wat Chaeng Hua Rin is located at 4118 Ban Chaeng Hua Rin, Wiang Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang Lampang District, Lampang Province. It belongs to the Maha Nikaya sect. The temple occupies a land area of 1 rai, 3 ngan, and 3 square wah, with land title deed number 2672. The temple is bordered to the north by the old city wall for approximately 27 wa, to the south by a public road for about 26 wa, to the east by a public road for 27 wa, and to the west by the old city wall for 26 wa.
The temple structures include an ordination hall, a sermon hall, a prayer hall, and three monks’ living quarters. Sacred objects include Phra Chao Thong Thip, a bronze Buddha image in the Mara Vichai posture, crafted in the Sukhothai artistic style, and a stupa.
Wat Chaeng Hua Rin was founded in 1707 (B.E. 2250) and was granted the royal monastic boundary (wisungkhamsima) in 1817 (B.E. 2360). In terms of administration, the abbots have included Phra Pok and Phra Panya between 1959 and 1964, Phra Chinda Thandhammo from 1964 to 1969, Phra Prathum Thammarato from 1969 onwards, and the current abbot is Phra Baidika Inkhum Aphittano.
