Wat Chai Mongkhalaram is a local Buddhist temple under the Maha Nikaya sect, located in Phuet Udom Subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province. The temple covers an area of approximately 10 rai and is situated on flat land along Khlong Sip Song, an area that experiences seasonal flooding during the rainy season.

 

The temple has long been an important spiritual and community center for local residents. It is a peaceful destination suitable for merit-making, prayer, and experiencing a traditional Thai temple environment surrounded by nature.

 

Wat Chai Mongkhalaram was established on June 15, 1905. The land originally belonged to a Christian owner, and local villagers collectively raised funds to purchase the land and build the temple. The name “Chai Mongkhalaram” reflects the auspicious success and unity of the community in establishing the temple.

 

The temple has played a significant role in education by offering Dhamma studies for monks and novices annually. It has also supported formal education by allowing the government to build a public school and teacher housing within the temple grounds.

 

The temple received its royal ordination boundary on August 18, 1933, with dimensions of 40 meters by 60 meters, and the boundary was consecrated in 1934. It later received an additional royal boundary grant on October 22, 2000.

 

Key structures within the temple include the original ordination hall built in 1937, designed in a traditional Thai barn-style architecture, along with five wooden monk residences, a sermon hall, a prayer hall, and a community pavilion.

 

The temple’s important sacred object is a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, which is highly respected by local devotees and is enshrined in the sermon hall and the newer prayer hall.

 

The surrounding environment is calm and shaded, making it an ideal place for meditation and relaxation away from the busy city atmosphere.
