Chulakal Sathit Ancestral Memorial Park, also known as “Asawa Deva Derm,” is located in Phlu Ta Luang Subdistrict, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. This place blends together a park, art, and spirituality. Visitors can experience a peaceful and serene atmosphere surrounded by sculptures, deities, and symbols that reflect faith and the remembrance of Siam’s ancestors.

 

The park was established in 1995 in dedication to Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, Prince of Chumphon. The founder, a former government officer, devoted his later years to creating this park, sculpting over 1,000 plaster figures representing ancestors. Covering more than 10 rai (about 4 acres), the park is situated at the foot of Phlu Ta Luang Hill. It is also noted that part of the 20th World Scout Jamboree activities in 2003 once took place here.

 

The highlight of the park lies in its diverse sculptures, some described as “one-of-a-kind in the world.” Each piece carries symbolic meaning, blending faith, art, and history. Within the grounds are shrines, Buddha images, and deity statues where visitors can pay their respects. Walking paths are designed to guide visitors step by step through the artworks, creating a connection between the viewer and the sculptures, while the tranquil environment encourages meditation and reflection.

 

Beyond its visual beauty, the Chulakal Sathit Ancestral Memorial Park serves as a symbolic monument linking past and present. It conveys the idea of honoring ancestors and learning about Thai art and culture in a tangible form. The park is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Although the admission fee is not clearly confirmed, some sources state that entry is free. The most convenient way to get there is by private car: take Sukhumvit Road into Sattahip, pass Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital, continue onto Road 331, and turn toward Phlu Ta Luang Hill. There are also references to a train route from Bangkok to Phlu Ta Luang, with a short walk to the park, though this information is not yet officially verified.

 

Visiting in the morning or early afternoon is recommended to avoid the heat and enjoy natural lighting ideal for photography. Modest dress is advised, as the park has a sacred atmosphere. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as visitors will need to walk along sculpture paths.
