Heaven Park 115 Years, Nong Chet Sen, Ang Thong Province is a major natural attraction and large green space in Ang Thong Province. It was developed as a recreational area for the public and as an environmental learning center. Covering more than 300 rai, the park is filled with flower gardens, tropical plant collections, lotus gardens, and various nature-themed display zones. This has made Heaven Park 115 Years one of the most important tourist attractions in Ang Thong, ideal for walking, relaxing, and learning about nature at the same time.

This park is located in an area formerly known as “Nong Chet Sen,” which in the past was a large community pond. The pond was an important natural water source for the surrounding area and had long been closely connected with the villagers’ way of life, especially in agriculture, fishing, and water use for daily consumption.

There is a local legend about Nong Chet Sen that in the past this area was believed to be home to fierce aquatic creatures. As a result, villagers who wanted to catch fish had to perform a ritual beforehand by offering vegetarian food to ask permission from sacred spirits before entering the water. This tradition became the origin of the name “Nong Chet Sen,” which has continued to be used until today.

Later, when the area became important for water management in Ang Thong Province, the Nong Chet Sen monkey cheek project was developed under the royal initiative of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, King Rama IX. The concept of a monkey cheek project is to use natural areas as water retention zones during the flood season in order to reduce flooding and store water for use during the dry season more effectively.

The Nong Chet Sen monkey cheek project was developed in a concrete way in 2007 when Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted royal approval for the area to be developed into a monkey cheek project to help retain water and manage water resources in Ang Thong Province. The project covers an area of about 320 rai and can store as much as approximately 1,400,000 cubic meters of water.

The large reservoir within the project can support agricultural land covering more than 2,000 rai, allowing local farmers to have sufficient water for cultivation and helping reduce the impact of drought during certain times of the year. In addition, it helps restore the ecosystem and create balance in the local natural environment.

In 2012, Ang Thong Province developed the Nong Chet Sen area into “Heaven Park 115 Years, Ang Thong Province” to honor His Majesty the King on the occasion of his 84th birthday anniversary. The landscape was improved and a variety of beautiful gardens were created to make it a public recreational area and a tourist attraction for the province.

The development of this park was designed as a wonder garden of imagination, with the area divided into different zones that offer both beauty and educational value to visitors. This allows tourists to walk through natural gardens while learning about plants and ecosystems at the same time.

One of the interesting zones in Heaven Park is the humid tropical plant zone, which gathers a wide range of tropical plant species in one place. This garden was designed as a botanical learning area for schoolchildren, students, and nature enthusiasts.

Another highly popular zone is the fantasy flower zone, which is filled with colorful flowers arranged in a fantasy style. This area has become one of the most popular photo spots for tourists visiting the park.

The international lotus garden and aquatic plant garden are another highlight of the park. Within the large ponds, many varieties of lotus are cultivated, including rare species. This creates a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere suitable for relaxation and nature walks.

The park also features artistic creations on the water, using the water surface as a key landscape element. This enhances the beauty of the park and helps create a relaxing atmosphere for visitors.

The vegetable tunnel is another interesting zone, designed as a walkway covered with various kinds of vegetables. In addition to being a pleasant place to stroll, it also serves as an agricultural learning space for children and young people.

The overall atmosphere of Heaven Park 115 Years, Nong Chet Sen is shady, peaceful, and quiet, making it suitable for walking, exercising, taking photos, and relaxing with family. Visitors can spend the whole day exploring the gardens and enjoying nature.
