Wat Na Hu Kwang is an important temple in Na Hu Kwang Subdistrict, Thap Sakae District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, an area that has long been closely connected with the local community. The temple is located in Moo 3 of Na Hu Kwang Subdistrict on an area of approximately 7 rai, 2 ngan, and 32 square wah. Its northern boundary is adjacent to a stream, while the southern and eastern sides are next to roads, and the western side borders nearby land plots. The surrounding landscape is peaceful and naturally serene, making Wat Na Hu Kwang a suitable place for meditation, merit-making, and quiet reflection.

The temple received its royal boundary charter, or Wisungkham Sima, on January 1, 2000, with the consecrated boundary measuring approximately 30 meters wide and 60 meters long. Receiving a Wisungkham Sima is considered a significant milestone for any temple because it means the ubosot is officially authorized for full Buddhist ordination and religious ceremonies in accordance with monastic discipline. This marked an important step in the development of Wat Na Hu Kwang and reflected both the growth of the temple and the strong faith of the local community in Buddhism.

Within the temple grounds are several important monastic structures, especially the ubosot, which serves as the center of religious activities. The ubosot of Wat Na Hu Kwang measures approximately 5.50 meters wide and 17.30 meters long. It was built in 1995 as a reinforced concrete structure in the chaturamukha style, a four-gabled architectural form commonly found in Thai temples. Its architecture is notable for its elegance and balanced proportions. Inside the ubosot is the principal Buddha image, which serves as the spiritual focus for devotees who come to make merit and pay their respects.

In addition to the principal Buddha image inside the ubosot, another highly significant feature of Wat Na Hu Kwang is the statue of “Luang Pho Pu Thong,” a revered monk and spiritual teacher respected by the people of Thap Sakae District. Luang Pho Pu Thong is regarded as an important figure in the temple’s early construction. According to local history passed down through generations, he is believed to have been born around 1734 during the early Ayutthaya period. He was known as a compassionate monk deeply respected by the local people. He taught the community to uphold goodness, kindness, and a way of life based on Buddhist principles.

The story of Luang Pho Pu Thong has continued to be passed down among local residents to this day. He is remembered as a monk of great compassion who played an important role in strengthening the community. For this reason, Wat Na Hu Kwang is not merely a place for Buddhist ceremonies, but also a center of devotion and local identity for the people in the area.

The atmosphere within Wat Na Hu Kwang is quiet, calm, and shaded, making it ideal for merit-making, paying respects to sacred images, or simply finding peace of mind. Visitors who come to this temple often feel the tranquility and simplicity of local community life. The temple still preserves the warm and faith-filled atmosphere of a rural Thai temple.

Wat Na Hu Kwang also plays an important role in the community through its religious and cultural activities. These include merit-making ceremonies, Buddhist holy day observances, and various community events that are often held within the temple grounds. The temple therefore serves as a communal center that connects people through religion and local tradition.
