Wat Chayalangka is home to the local cultural and folk wisdom learning center of Pa Pong Subdistrict, established in 2005 (B.E. 2548). It was founded with the intention to preserve, carry on, and revive the valuable local arts and culture, including Northern Thai traditions, Lanna culture, and the way of life of the Tai Khün people who have long settled in this area.

These include the Lanna New Year (Songkran) celebrations, life-prolonging rituals (Suep Chata), the Taan Khuay Salak merit-making tradition, traditional dance performances, and youth activities that give the younger generation a chance to practice dancing, listen to local music, and learn the dialect from village elders.

1) From Bo Sang Village, San Kamphaeng District, Chiang Mai Province, drive towards Doi Saket District for about 11 kilometers. This route is suitable for those departing from Chiang Mai city via the San Kamphaeng road, with the option to stop and visit Bo Sang handicraft village along the way.

 

2) From the Doi Saket District Office, take the road heading towards Bo Sang for about 4 kilometers, then turn into the Pa Pong Subdistrict community following the signposts until you reach Wat Chayalangka with ease.

 

Both routes can be easily navigated using online map applications. A key highlight is that along the way, travelers can also visit other attractions in Doi Saket and San Kamphaeng.
