Wat Suan Luang Located on Ratchadamnoen Road opposite the National Museum Nakhon Si Thammarat is in the ancient city of Phra Wiang. This temple houses a beautiful Buddha image named Somdej Chao Mae Lao Thong, in the posture of holding a bat, and is an important Buddha image in the tradition of dragging the Buddha image during the Buddhist Lent Festival.
They will bring Somdej Chao Mae Lao Thong to be enshrined on "Nom Phra" or "Phanom Phra" (Busabok) and drag it around the city for Buddhist people to join in making merit by dragging the Buddha image according to the ancient tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. And the Ubosot in Wat Suan Luang is an Ayutthaya-era ubosot. There are stucco paintings by local craftsmen about the Buddha's history adorning the walls inside the Ubosot.
