The Sombat Permpoon Gallery was founded by one of Thailand’s most prominent and renowned art collectors, Sombat Wattananthai.

 

Mrs. Wattananthai has been a leading collector of the Thai art community for over 30 years. Beginning her impeccable career back in 1979 she opened her first small art gallery in Silom, Bangkok.

 

From humble beginnings, after much acclaimed success she continued to open a further 3 galleries. In 1982 a gallery was opened at River City Plaza followed in the early 1990’s by another two galleries at The Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel, Siam Inter Continental Hotel and the prestigious Nai Lert Park Hotel.

 

In 1995, Ms. Sombat converted a 6 story building to the current gallery and moved her her entire art collection, in excess of over 10,000 works of art to the now Sombat Permpoon Gallery building.
