The Kamphaeng Phet National Museum is located on Pin Damri Road in the city of Kamphaeng Phet and serves as an important center for learning about the province’s history and cultural heritage. The museum displays artifacts and art objects from various periods, ranging from Dvaravati and Lopburi art to Rattanakosin art. Most of the exhibits include Buddha head statues, Sangkhalok ceramics, stucco figures of giants, deities, and humans that were used to decorate the bases of stupas or temple halls.

Additionally, the museum houses a significant standing Shiva statue, which in the reign of King Rama V had its head and hands stolen in 1886 but was later restored to its original condition. The Kamphaeng Phet National Museum reflects the historical prosperity of the city through its intricate stucco and ceramic designs. The museum’s exhibitions cover periods from prehistory, Dvaravati, Lopburi, Sukhothai, and Ayutthaya to Rattanakosin, allowing visitors to observe the continuous development of art and culture over time.

Traveling to the museum is convenient from both the city center and Kamphaeng Phet Bus Terminal. Visitors can access Pin Damri Road and find parking around the museum, making it easy to explore the historical artifacts and gain a full understanding of local history.

The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and it is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and public holidays. Admission is 20 baht for Thai visitors and 100 baht for foreigners, with free entry for students in uniform, monks of all religions, seniors, and persons with disabilities.

The Kamphaeng Phet National Museum not only displays valuable artifacts but also serves as an educational center promoting historical and artistic knowledge for visitors of all ages. Visiting the museum provides an opportunity to understand the lifestyle, beliefs, and creative expression of Kamphaeng Phet’s past inhabitants while gaining deep insights into Thai culture.

It also connects visitors to other historical attractions in the province, such as the ancient city of Trai Treng, Ban Hang R.5, and Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park. Visiting the museum is therefore not just an exploration of history but also a cultural journey that offers a full appreciation of local wisdom and heritage.

The museum is a must-visit for those interested in Thai history, art, and culture. It is ideal for both academic study and cultural tourism, helping Kamphaeng Phet maintain its status as a city rich in valuable and remarkable cultural heritage.
