Kaeng Krachan Suspension Bridge is located along the crest of Kaeng Krachan Dam in Kaeng Krachan Subdistrict, Kaeng Krachan District, Phetchaburi Province. It has become one of the most recognizable landmarks in the Phetchaburi watershed area, where visitors often stop to check in before continuing their journey into Kaeng Krachan National Park. The wooden suspension bridge stretches across the vast reservoir, offering panoramic views of the Tenasserim mountain range and the rich western forest landscape. The image of the wooden deck supported by steel cables, set against open water and layered mountain silhouettes, has become a defining visual of Kaeng Krachan for many travelers.

 

Kaeng Krachan Dam was originally constructed for water management and hydroelectric power generation serving Phetchaburi and nearby provinces. Over time, tourism infrastructure was developed along the dam crest, creating safe walking areas where visitors can easily access and experience the surrounding natural environment. The suspension bridge functions both as a connecting walkway along the dam and as a scenic viewpoint that enhances the spatial experience of the reservoir and its mountainous surroundings.

 

The structure of the bridge consists of a continuous wooden deck secured with steel suspension cables and supporting posts along its length. With an approximate length of 500 meters, the bridge gently sways when wind passes through or when people walk across it. This subtle movement is not dangerous; instead, it adds a dynamic dimension to the experience, distinguishing it from ordinary concrete pathways and making the act of viewing the landscape feel more immersive and alive.

 

From the bridge, visitors can overlook the expansive reservoir formed by the dam that blocks the Phetchaburi River. The surrounding mountains and forested areas are part of the Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage natural site known for its ecological richness. The scenery from the bridge therefore reflects the grandeur of a large-scale ecosystem, where water, forest, and mountains converge in a single panoramic frame.

 

The bridge is also widely known as a filming location for the Thai romantic film “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” which further increased its popularity. Many visitors travel here to recreate scenes from the movie, especially during early morning and late afternoon when natural light enhances the romantic and tranquil atmosphere.

 

Getting There From Phetchaburi town, take Highway No. 4 (Phetkasem Road) and turn onto Highway No. 3499 toward Kaeng Krachan District. Continue driving toward Kaeng Krachan Dam. Parking areas are available near the entrance to the bridge. The road is fully paved and accessible for standard vehicles.
