In Thailand, Chrysanthemum flowers are grown in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nonthaburi, Surat Thani, Songkhla, Yala, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Nong Khai and Nakhon Ratchasima.

 

As it is easier to take care of, inflorescence of chrysanthemum is more common to be grown than a pedicel one. From September to March is the period when the flower can be produced the most.

 

However, the amount still cannot satisfy the demand of chrysanthemum in the market and the availability of produce is also inconsistent from season to season.

 

It can live in the vase for only a short period of time. Therefore, most chrysanthemums in the market are imported from Malaysia and Netherlands, totaling 25 million baht a year. 

 

Thai Samakkhi Chrysanthemum Planting Group (Benjamas Group) at Thai Samakki is a group of 40 members who have grown chrysanthemums since 1998. Here, the flower can be produced all year round, both in-season and off-season.

 

The plantation covers the area of 14 Rai and takes 2.5 to 3 months to harvest. The group plants over 22 chrysanthemum species as different markets have different tastes. Flower merchants would come to the plantation themselves to select the type of chrysanthemum they need so that the group can produce as they want.
