Central Botanical Garden (Phu Khae) Phu Khae, Chalerm Prakiat, Saraburi. The Garden is located in the Phra Phutthabat Phu Kae Superior National forest covering the area of 4,697 fields.
It is 17 kilometers away from Saraburi city. The place is the first botanical garden in Thailand and is also the research location for plants in order to provide information to the public. It is also a relaxing place covering both sides of the streets.
Travelling from Saraburi, on your left, you will see the office building and plants library. On your right, there is an open-air space filled with pleasant atmosphere where the canal flows by. The garden is full of different kind of plants and trees, mostly local; it is composed of 35 types including trees in literature and herbs.
The garden used to be called “Heaven Garden” by the people in Saraburi province because the place is filled with beautiful blooming wild flowers giving out a great odor. Later in 1941 the Heaven Garden was named a botanical garden by Royal Forest Department.
The garden then was modified from dry evergreen forest area covered by vines and thorns into a garden filled with various plants from both Thailand and abroad set in categories.
Phu Kae Botanical Garden focuses on the botanical research and plants collection according to taxonomy. The place also pays attention to the conservation of various plants resources especially the rare and almost extinct plants.
Besides this garden offers information regarding natural knowledge to the people who are interested including students in all grades in order to develop the love for the national natural resources.
The learning locations within the botanical garden can be found in royal auspicious trees garden, sandal woods plots, and auspicious trees plots grown according to the direction, dye plant plots, Thai history plant plot, 1,500 meters natural trails and 4,000 plants trail.
