Wat Si Phirom is located in Ban Khlong Khlung, Moo 2, Khlong Khlung Subdistrict, Khlong Khlung District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. It is a community temple under the Mahanikaya order, covering a total area of 55 rai, 3 ngan, and 40 square wah, reflecting the temple’s significance and grandeur in the local area, both in religious and cultural aspects. The temple has a long history and is rich in historical value as well as beautiful traditional Thai architecture.
Wat Si Phirom was established in 1908 (B.E. 2451) during a period of growth in the Khlong Khlung community. Originally, locals called it "Wat Khlong Khlung." Prior to that, it was known as "Wat Pikun Thong," and at the time, there were two temples with this name—one Thai and one Burmese. Wat Pikun Thong, or Wat Khlong Khlung, was located north of the Khlong Khlung market. Later, in 1918 (B.E. 2461), the temple structures were relocated and rebuilt at the rear of the market, south of the present-day district office, to allow the community easier access for religious practice and activities.
Wat Si Phirom was granted the Wisungkhamasima boundary on February 21, 1995 (B.E. 2538), with dimensions of 20 meters wide and 40 meters long. This official designation symbolizes legal recognition and confirms the temple’s status as an important community institution.
Beyond its historical background, Wat Si Phirom serves as the spiritual center for residents of Khlong Khlung and nearby areas. The temple plays a crucial role in organizing religious activities, traditional ceremonies, and providing Buddhist education for both youth and the general public. Its architecture reflects traditional Thai styles, including the ubosot (ordination hall), sermon hall, and viharn (assembly hall), all adorned with intricate classical Thai art.
From a tourism perspective, Wat Si Phirom is a key attraction in Khlong Khlung District that visitors and those interested in Thai culture should not miss. With its peaceful and shaded environment and beautiful architectural details, tourists can admire traditional Thai artistry, learn about the temple’s history, and participate in religious activities alongside the local community.
For those interested in local culture, Wat Si Phirom also serves as an important learning center for traditional Thai customs and daily Buddhist practices. The surrounding community continues to preserve local traditions, such as the annual merit-making festival, mid-year religious ceremonies, and other activities that highlight the close bond between the temple and the people.
With its long history, stunning architecture, and vital social role, Wat Si Phirom is one of the most significant temples in Kamphaeng Phet Province. It offers visitors a comprehensive experience of religion, culture, and the serene atmosphere of a traditional Thai temple.
