Pong Yub is a natural attraction with a unique landscape located at 99 Moo 6, Ban Tha Khoei, Tha Khoei Subdistrict, Suan Phueng District, Ratchaburi Province. Covering an area of approximately 60 rai, the distinctive feature of this place is the collapse of the ground surface, which has created deep pits, soil cliffs, and ravines of various shapes. The resulting landscape resembles “Phae Mueang Phi” in Phrae Province, a well-known natural attraction in northern Thailand.

Pong Yub is considered one of the destinations that clearly demonstrates the power of nature in shaping the landscape. When viewed from above, visitors will see large sinkholes scattered throughout the area, forming a terrain that looks like a miniature canyon created by the gradual erosion of soil over a long period of time.

The area of Pong Yub was originally a natural forest located within the community of Ban Tha Khoei. Local residents noticed that the ground in this area had gradually collapsed, creating pits and soil cliffs in several locations. Over time, visitors began traveling to the area to witness this unusual terrain, and it eventually became known as a natural tourist attraction called “Pong Yub.”

The word “Pong” in the local language refers to an area where certain types of soil or minerals accumulate, while the word “Yub” means collapse or subsidence. Therefore, Pong Yub refers to an area where the ground has collapsed to form pits or soil cliffs, a natural process that has taken hundreds of years to develop.

This phenomenon occurs due to underground water erosion that gradually washes away the lower layers of soil. Over time, the upper layer of soil can no longer support its own weight, causing the ground to collapse and form deep pits and soil cliffs with various shapes.

Within the Pong Yub area, visitors will find several types of geological formations such as sinkholes of different sizes, soil cliffs, ravines, and soil pillars created by water erosion. Some pits are approximately 3–5 meters deep, and certain areas feature steep soil cliffs that create a dramatic natural landscape.

Although Pong Yub is not a very large area, its unusual terrain has made it an appealing destination for travelers who want to experience nature in a form different from typical tourist attractions.

Another highlight of Pong Yub is its peaceful atmosphere. Since the area remains part of the local community's natural land, there are no large structures or extensive facilities. This allows visitors to experience nature in a calm and close-to-nature environment.

Visitors who come to Pong Yub often enjoy walking around the site and taking photographs of the unusual soil cliffs and sinkholes. Early morning and late afternoon are particularly good times for photography, as the sunlight enhances the textures and dimensions of the soil cliffs.

The surrounding area of Pong Yub is also covered with natural vegetation and trees, creating a refreshing environment that is suitable for relaxing in the midst of nature.

Due to the terrain of Pong Yub, which includes deep pits and soil cliffs, visitors should walk carefully and avoid standing too close to the edges of the pits, especially during the rainy season when the soil may become slippery.

Pong Yub is open to visitors every day from 06.00 to 18.00. The entrance fee is approximately 30 – 50 baht per vehicle. Groups planning to visit should contact the location in advance.
