Mokoju Mountain Attractions in Nakhon Sawan in Nakhon Sawan Province is the highest peak in Mae Wong National Park that trekking enthusiasts must not miss. It is the tallest peak in Mae Wong National Park and also the highest mountain in the Western Forest Complex of Thailand, standing at 1,964 meters above sea level. This peak is a key destination for adventurous travelers who love hiking and mountain climbing.
The word “Mokoju” originates from the Karen language, meaning “It looks like it will rain,” which fits well with the mountain’s weather characteristics. The summit is often covered by thick mist and clouds, with cold temperatures almost year-round, creating a mysterious and beautiful atmosphere like something out of a fairy tale.
Tourists aiming to conquer Mokoju Mountain will experience a challenging hiking trail surrounded by rich natural scenery. The ascent includes slopes steeper than 60 degrees, requiring significant physical strength. The entire trek up and down typically takes about 4 days and 3 nights, with camping at designated spots along the way. This journey is not suitable for those without experience or those who are physically unprepared.
For safety and the best experience, interested visitors should study the trail conditions and weather in advance, and contact the Mae Wong National Park officials for advice and to arrange for a professional guide. Mokoju Mountain is open for trekking only during the winter season, from November to February, to prevent dangers from unpredictable weather in other months.
Mokoju Mountain is not only a breathtaking and challenging viewpoint but also a great opportunity to experience pristine forest nature, diverse tree species, various wildlife, and fresh air that is hard to find in big cities. If you are a nature lover and adventure seeker, Mokoju Mountain is a destination you should visit at least once in your lifetime.
