The Sawankhaworanayok National Museum is located in Mueang Sawankhalok Subdistrict, behind Sawankhalok Woraram Temple (commonly known as Wat Klang), approximately 38 kilometers from Sukhothai city. From the main road, a left turn leads about 1.6 kilometers to the museum.

The museum is divided into two main exhibition areas. The upper floor showcases sculptures from various periods, most of which come from Wat Sawankhalok Woranayok, with some pieces transferred from the Ramkhamhaeng National Museum. These exhibits feature Buddha images from the pre-Sukhothai period up to the early Rattanakosin era, allowing visitors to observe the evolution of Thai Buddhist art and architectural styles over time.

The lower floor displays Sawankhalok celadon ceramics, which are important both historically and artistically. These ceramics were excavated from archaeological sites in Ban Koh Noi and Ban Pai Yang in Si Satchanalai District. Exhibits include everyday utensils as well as finely crafted pieces, highlighting production techniques, glazing methods, and decorative motifs. Additionally, the museum presents ceramics recovered from sunken ships in the Gulf of Thailand, reflecting historical maritime trade and cultural exchanges.

The museum is open daily except Mondays, Tuesdays, and public holidays, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission fees are 10 THB for Thai visitors and 30 THB for foreigners. Group visits with a guide can be arranged by calling 0 5564 3166.

Visiting the Sawankhaworanayok National Museum offers not only historical and cultural knowledge but also an opportunity to experience the uniqueness of Thai art and craftsmanship. It is an educational destination suitable for students, researchers, and tourists alike, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Thailand’s cultural heritage.
