Wat Sirisutthawat is located at No. 1, Ban Khwang, Moo 5, Ban Rai Subdistrict, Bang Krathum District, Phitsanulok Province. It is a public temple under the Mahanikaya sect, covering a total area of approximately 31 rai and 79 square wah, surrounded by private land and public roads. The northern boundary extends 158 wah, adjacent to private land; the southern boundary extends 158 wah, adjacent to a public road; the eastern boundary extends 79 wah, adjacent to occupied land; and the western boundary extends 79 wah, adjacent to a public road. The temple has official land documents, including Nor Sor 3 No. 8734, and there is a monk’s land plot of 1 ngan 92 square wah according to Nor Sor 3 No. 258. The temple grounds are mostly flat, suitable for constructing religious buildings and for community use.
Within the temple, there are several important structures, including the ordination hall (Ubosot), 8 meters wide and 22 meters long, built in 1967, a sermon hall (Sala Kan Parian), 20 meters wide and 32 meters long, built in 1954, and seven monk’s living quarters (kuti). The ordination hall houses three principal Buddha images, and there are also two chedis. These reflect the devotion and stability of the temple as a religious and cultural center for the community.
Wat Sirisutthawat was established around 1732 B.E. (1789 CE) and was originally called "Wat Khwang." It received the royal Sima boundary grant on March 31, 1959, with the formal boundary consecration ceremony held on May 9, 1961. The temple plays a key role in promoting Buddhist education, having started teaching the Dhamma curriculum for monks in 1977. Additionally, within the temple grounds are a government primary school occupying over 5 rai, the Subdistrict Council on a plot of more than 1 ngan, and a health station covering over 2 rai.
The location of Wat Sirisutthawat in Ban Rai Subdistrict highlights its importance as a community hub, not only for religion but also for education and public services. The complete facilities and well-planned land allocation allow the temple to serve as a center for religious and social activities. Wat Sirisutthawat is not only a religious center but also a key point connecting the community, supporting sustainable development and the quality of life of local residents.
Wat Sirisutthawat is therefore significant both historically and culturally in Phitsanulok Province. Preserving and maintaining the temple ensures that future generations can experience its historical value, devotion, and unique religious architecture. Religious and educational activities held at the temple help strengthen the community socially, culturally, and spiritually, making Wat Sirisutthawat a symbol of faith, devotion, and communal cooperation in Phitsanulok Province to this day.
