City Pillar Shrine of Phitsanulok Province is one of the most significant symbols of the province’s history and culture. The city pillar of Phitsanulok is crafted from several types of sacred wood. The base and the main shaft are made of Ratchaphruek wood, believed to bring prosperity to the community. The upper part of the shaft, known as the “luk kaew,” is made from Ching Chan wood, which is durable and strong. The lotus bud at the top is adorned with a crystal made from Takien Thong wood, demonstrating the intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail in every step of its creation.
