Wat Pho Lang Ka is a public Buddhist temple located in Moo 13, Ban Huong Hin, Na Yai Am Subdistrict, Na Yai Am District, Chanthaburi Province. The temple sits along Sukhumvit Road, just 2 kilometers from the district office, and has long served as a spiritual and community center for local residents. Established over fifty years ago, the temple’s name comes from a remarkable story of devotion. A monk from the temple once traveled on a pilgrimage to Sri Lanka. During his journey, he brought back a Bodhi tree sapling and planted it at the temple. This act of faith inspired the local community, and over time, the temple became widely known as “Wat Pho Lang Ka,” honoring its connection to Sri Lanka.

Over the decades, Wat Pho Lang Ka has become more than just a place of worship. It serves as a center for learning Buddhist teachings, practicing meditation, and participating in cultural activities. The temple attracts both locals and visitors seeking peace and spiritual inspiration. Its convenient location along a major road makes it easily accessible for travelers. The serene environment, shaded by the sacred Bodhi tree, provides a peaceful setting for meditation, chanting, and religious ceremonies.

Community involvement is a core aspect of the temple’s identity. Local residents actively participate in merit-making, traditional festivals, and temple maintenance, ensuring that Buddhist traditions and rituals continue to thrive and pass on to younger generations. Wat Pho Lang Ka also functions as a space for intergenerational learning, where children and youth can gain knowledge of local history, moral teachings, and cultural practices.

Although the temple’s history is relatively short compared to older religious sites, its spiritual significance is profound. The Bodhi tree brought from Sri Lanka symbolizes a direct link to the place of the Buddha’s enlightenment, enhancing the temple’s sacred value. Visitors often feel calm and inspired, experiencing a deeper connection to Buddhist traditions through the tranquil surroundings and carefully maintained grounds.

Wat Pho Lang Ka is not only a religious landmark but also a symbol of faith, community collaboration, and cultural preservation. Its story of devotion and cultural exchange continues to attract those seeking spiritual growth and insight into Buddhist practices in Chanthaburi Province. The temple stands as a testament to enduring religious dedication, local engagement, and the preservation of cultural heritage, making it an essential destination for spiritual pilgrims and cultural enthusiasts exploring eastern Thailand.
