Phu Wai Cave, located in Uthai Thani Province, is one of the region’s remarkable natural attractions, renowned for its magnificent stalactites and stalagmites. The cave features a spacious interior with diverse rock formations, including structures resembling pagodas and natural basins, offering visitors a unique opportunity to marvel at nature’s artistry. Access to the cave requires a walk up the mountainside, but the effort is worthwhile as the interior is well-ventilated, allowing for a comfortable exploration even deep within the cave.

Phu Wai Cave is also notable for its biodiversity, housing up to nine species of bats. Visitors can arrange for a local guide at the cave entrance to ensure both safety and a comprehensive exploration. Exploring the cave typically takes about one hour, providing sufficient time to admire the rock formations and capture photographs of the stunning natural scenery.

Behind Phu Wai Cave lies Thepmali Cave, also known as Naga Cave. This smaller but deeper cave is renowned for its natural stalactites and stalagmites. Visiting Thepmali Cave offers a different perspective of nature’s beauty, presenting a more intimate and tranquil cave experience compared to the larger Phu Wai Cave.

Phu Wai Peak rises to 700 meters above sea level and serves as a prime vantage point, offering panoramic views of Uthai Thani Province and its surroundings. The ridge is covered with well-preserved dry dipterocarp forest, rich in plant and animal life, making it not only a beautiful viewpoint but also an educational site for those interested in learning about the ecosystem.

Traveling to Phu Wai Cave starts from Ban Rai District via Highway 3011, the Ban Rai–Phubon route. Travelers pass Khao Rak Shrine curve until reaching the intersection marked with a sign for Ban E Lum–Ban Khao Phu Toei. Turning right and continuing for about 6 kilometers, then passing Wat Tham Khao Wong for another 3 kilometers, will lead to the cave entrance. The journey is relatively convenient, although the roads can be winding, but the natural beauty of the cave and its surroundings makes the trip worthwhile.

Phu Wai Cave is not only a site of natural beauty but also an important location for biological and geological significance in Uthai Thani. Visiting the cave allows travelers to appreciate the importance of cave and forest conservation while experiencing an unparalleled natural adventure, from admiring the intricate stalactites and stalagmites, observing diverse bat species, to enjoying breathtaking views from the 700-meter-high peak.
