City pillar shrine and Dragon descendant Museum both situated in the same area. The city pillar shrine is a place where the former ruler of Suphanburi put the first pillar to designate the area dominated by the province and to start buiding its power.
At present, the shrine is very well known for any worshipper whose come to pray and ask for the god of the shrine to help and wish them success in any matter they ask from him.
In addition, although most city pillar shrine in other provinces have been designed with an ancient Thai style, Suphanburi city pillar shrine has been designed and decorated in Chinese style instead with some Chinese god statue placed inside the shrine's area as well.
Dragon Descendant Museum is located next to city pillar shrine, adjacent to Malai Man Road. The museum has been built to celebrate 20 years anniversary of Thailand & China diplomatic relationship.
The museum has been constructed in a dragon-shape with the intention to depict an ancient history of China's civilization since 5,000 years ago, divided into 12 rooms and each one display each era one by one until the present time.
Another interesting point to visit this museum is to come and see light up show after sunset, the dragon will turns to be gold color which is a charming scene to take some snapshot.
To visit the museum, visitors must make a reservation by calling 035-526211-2 Museum opens Monday-Friday (closed on Tuesday) 10:00-16:00 Saturday-Sunday and public holidays 9:00-17:00
Admission Adult 499 Bahts/person, Child 299 Bahts/person, special rate may be given if visitors come in a group but visitors must contact museum by themself.
To go there Take Ratthanathibet Road head straight to Bang Yai then continue to highway No 340. Once arrive at Muang District take the left turn to route No 321, cross the river and turn right to city pillar shrine.
