Wat Phra Yun Phutthabat Yukhon is another important temple in Laplae District, Uttaradit Province. It is located just about 500 meters past Wat Phra Borommathat Thung Yang along Highway 102, on the left-hand side of the road near an intersection. This makes it convenient to visit from both the city of Uttaradit and nearby areas. Its location on the same route as other historical attractions also makes it a popular stop for visitors who often combine their trip with a visit to Wat Phra Borommathat Thung Yang.

The most outstanding feature of Wat Phra Yun Phutthabat Yukhon is its exquisite Lanna-style (Chiang Saen) mondop, which houses a pair of Buddha’s footprints set on a lotus-shaped base about 1.5 meters high. These paired footprints are a highly revered Buddhist symbol, cherished by both locals and pilgrims. It is believed that paying homage to them will bring good fortune, smooth life’s path, and lead to success.

Another sacred object held in deep reverence by locals and visitors alike is Luang Pho Phuttha Rangsri, a bronze Buddha image in the Mara Vichaya posture, measuring 55 inches across the lap and 66 inches in height. This Sukhothai-style statue is known for its graceful beauty. Originally, Luang Pho Phuttha Rangsri was enshrined inside the mondop, covered in plaster for protection. Later, the plaster was removed, revealing the true elegance of the bronze surface. The statue has since been moved to the new ordination hall, allowing easier access for devotees to pay their respects.

Wat Phra Yun Phutthabat Yukhon is not merely a religious site it is also a repository of history, art, and faith handed down through generations. Visitors can appreciate the charm of ancient architecture, the spiritual significance of the paired Buddha’s footprints, and the serenity that comes from venerating a Sukhothai-style Buddha image.

For travelers exploring the Laplae District, Wat Phra Yun Phutthabat Yukhon is a destination not to be missed. Not only is it close to a major attraction like Wat Phra Borommathat Thung Yang, but it also brings together both spiritual and cultural value in one place perfect for paying homage, seeking blessings, and immersing oneself in the timeless charm of Uttaradit’s old town.
