Thai-Danish Dairy Farm Mittra Phap, Muak Lek, Saraburi. It is located on Mittra Phap road, Mittra Phap sub-district, opposite to the Dairy Farming Promotion Organisation of Thailand Market.

 

This farm is the beginning of the dairy farm in Thailand after the King Bhumibhol and the Queen Sirikit visited Denmark in 1960 and were interested in the dairy farm of Danish people. Hence, the Danish government and the Danish Dairy Farming Association together offered a promotion project on the raising of dairy cows.

 

The Thai-Danish Dairy Farm was officially opened by the King Bhumibhol and the King Frederick IX of Denmark on January 16, 1962. They cooperated with the Thai government to establish the Thai-Danish Dairy Farm (TDDF) and a training centre in Muak Lek District, Saraburi.

 

Later, the farm was under the Thai Government’s control and was established as “The Dairy Farming Promotion Organisation of Thailand” in order to promote the dairy farming and to buy the raw milk to produce the dairy products and also open as a agricultural tourist attraction for those who are interested in dairy farming. Many activities are offered for the visitors.

 

You can take a tram ride to see the cows in the meadow or ride a mountain bike in ATV circuit. See the video about the history of the farm or see and even try milking a cow.

 

There is also a museum of King Bhumibhol and King Frederick IX of Denmark. You can try feeding a calf, learn how to do dairy farming, how to make food for cows and see the show of cowboy life. For example, cow roping, cow controlling. You can also learn how to grow the grasses to feed the cows, herbal garden and learn the process of dairy production.

 

During the nighttime, you will enjoy the cowboy’s night. Cowboy style music show, cowboy exhibitions and many activities like axe throwing, archery, hiking are offered. You can purchase the varieties of cowboy  souvenirs.

 

Farm visit is open on Mondays to Fridays at 10 a.m./ 2 p.m./ 4 p.m. and on Saturdays to Sundays at 9.00 a.m./ 11.00 a.m./ 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. 

 

Numbers of tourists is limited at 80 persons per visit round. 

 

Admission fee is 50THB for kids, 80THB for students, 100THB for adults and 200THB for foreigners.

 

Charge rates for each activities are as follows: 

- Rent a tent for camping: 600-1,000 THB for each person a night. For 2 days 1 night stay is 2,000 THB/night (more than 50 persons per group)

 

- ATV rent: 145-800 THB/round depending on distance.

 

-Mountain bike: 100 THB/hour. 2 round available: 8.00-9.00 a.m. and 3.00-6.00 p.m.

 

-Dairy Farming Learning Camp: 50-250 persons/group. 1,250THB (2 days/1 night) and 1,760THB (3 days/2nights)

 

Travel: From Bangkok, take Bangkok-Saraburi road and turn right to Mitraphap road passing the intersection which leads to Muaklek district and take a u-turn to the farm.
