Wat Rerk Hrai Samkkhi is located at No. 116, Moo 1, Wang Yang Subdistrict, Khlong Khlung District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. This public temple holds significant religious, social, and cultural importance for the local community. The temple was established through the generous donation of 18 rai of land by Mr. Prueang Rerk Hrai. Construction of the temple began in 1955 (B.E. 2498), and official permission to build the temple was granted on April 29, 1969 (B.E. 2512). It was officially recognized as a temple on February 17, 1970 (B.E. 2513) and received the royal consecration of Wisungkhamasima in 2007 (B.E. 2550).

Wat Rerk Hrai Samkkhi has been recognized for promoting health and well-being in the community. The temple received the Outstanding Health-Promoting Temple Award at the provincial level in 2008 (B.E. 2551) and also at the district level, highlighting its commitment not only as a religious center but also as a hub for community health and learning.

One of the temple’s key activities is organizing nekkhamma ordination programs and mass ordinations to honor the Thai royal family. These include the Nekkhamma Ordination in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in April, the Mass Ordination in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej from July to the end of Buddhist Lent, and the Nekkhamma Ordination for women in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in August each year. These activities aim to cultivate morality, spiritual strength, and community engagement among monks, novices, and laypeople.

In addition, Wat Rerk Hrai Samkkhi serves as a computer learning center in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (ICT), providing education for monks and local residents of Khlong Khlung District. The temple also broadcasts religious, cultural, and artistic information through its radio station at 101.25 MHz, airing daily from 5:30 – 6:00 a.m. and 8:30 – 9:00 p.m. This initiative ensures that knowledge of religion and Thai culture reaches a wide audience.

Currently, the temple is led by Phra Kru Thawaro Vachirasat, the abbot, who oversees all religious, educational, and community activities. Under his guidance, Wat Rerk Hrai Samkkhi continues to maintain its spiritual integrity while also serving as a center for education, health promotion, and cultural preservation. The temple has become more than just a place of worship; it is a cornerstone of community life and a vital center for learning in Khlong Khlung District.

Wat Rerk Hrai Samkkhi exemplifies a temple that integrates religious practice with community development. It provides education in technology, promotes health and well-being, and preserves Thai culture and arts, making it a holistic center for spiritual, social, and cultural enrichment.
