Wat Ratsat Atsadaram, also known by locals as “Wat Saphan Si,” is a Buddhist temple under the Mahanikaya order, located in Moo 3, Mabyangporn Subdistrict, Pluak Daeng District, Rayong Province. The temple was officially established in 1977 (B.E. 2520) and received its consecration boundary in 1983 (B.E. 2526). The current abbot is Phra Khru Khantithammavas, who continues to lead religious and community activities regularly. Wat Ratsat Atsadaram has long been a refuge of faith and a moral anchor for residents of the growing Mabyangporn area.

 

The temple grounds feature the main religious structures, including the ordination hall (ubosot), sermon hall, and monks’ residences. Visitors often come to pay respect to the principal Buddha image, make merit, and participate in candlelight processions on major Buddhist holidays. The temple retains its humble charm and is deeply rooted in local devotion.

 

Annual merit-making events such as the Kathina and robe-offering ceremonies attract large numbers of villagers, with food stalls and communal activities. The temple also provides moral education for local youth through temporary ordination and meditation programs during school breaks.

 

Getting There From Rayong City, take Highway No. 36 toward Pluak Daeng District, then turn onto Rural Road RY.3013 following the signs to Mabyangporn Subdistrict. Near Bridge No. 4, a sign marks the entrance to the temple. Public transport options include songthaews (shared trucks) and motorcycle taxis from Pluak Daeng Market. Private cars can park conveniently near the sermon hall.

 

The best time to visit is in the early morning for almsgiving or late afternoon when the weather cools. Visitors are encouraged to dress modestly, maintain silence in monastic areas, and seek permission before entering restricted temple zones to show respect to the monks.
