It is well known during the fruit season, especially from April to June each year, when Rayong’s signature fruits such as durian, rambutan, mangosteen, and longkong are abundantly in season. The market has become a popular destination for travelers who want to taste fresh fruit straight from the orchards.

 

The market is not only a place to buy fruit and agricultural products, but also a stage for local community activities that reflect the way of life of Rayong orchardists, such as fruit contests, fruit-processing competitions, beauty pageants for orchard ambassadors, traditional music and cultural performances by local women’s groups, and a mini-train tour through fruit orchards that lets visitors soak up the authentic orchard atmosphere right at the source.

 

The market atmosphere is filled with the colors of fresh fruit and the smiles of locals. Visitors can shop for souvenirs and local products, such as processed fruit, fruit juices, herbal drinks, and OTOP items at friendly prices. The market also helps generate sustainable income for local farmers.

 

Getting There The Phlong Ta Iem Fruit Market is accessible via Highway 344 (Ban Bueng–Klaeng). From Bangkok, the drive takes about 2.5 hours over roughly 170 kilometers. Traveling by private car is convenient. You can also take a bus from Ekkamai to Klaeng and continue by songthaew (local truck taxi) or taxi to the market. There is ample parking around the site and convenient facilities.

 

Each year, the “Phlong Ta Iem Fruit Street Festival” draws large crowds, both from nearby provinces and international visitors who want to experience a fruit market unique to Thailand’s Eastern region.
