Khao Chuk Reservoir in Rayong Province is a significant water resource in eastern Thailand, located in Ban Chang District. During the early morning and late afternoon, visitors can enjoy jogging, cycling, or simply relaxing along the reservoir’s banks. The “Iron Pavilion” viewpoint is particularly popular, offering a wide, scenic view of the water and mountains.

The reservoir is managed by the Royal Irrigation Department and serves as a primary water source for the Provincial Waterworks Authority of Rayong. It also helps mitigate drought and prevent saltwater intrusion during the dry season, ensuring a stable water supply for agriculture throughout the year. This reservoir truly sustains both the economy and the community of Rayong.

The surrounding area is peaceful, featuring a well-paved road that encircles the reservoir, ideal for walking, running, or cycling. The panoramic mountain and water views are especially captivating at sunset. On weekends, locals often come here for picnics, camping, or kayaking in designated zones, enjoying a calm, natural setting away from the city.

Khao Chuk Reservoir is also a model for community-based environmental stewardship. Local groups organize activities such as tree planting and clean-up campaigns to preserve the ecosystem. Getting There The reservoir is easily accessible from downtown Rayong. Take Sukhumvit Road (Highway No. 3) toward Ban Chang District, then turn onto Highway No. 3574 and continue for about 7 kilometers to reach the entrance. The drive from Rayong city takes roughly 40 minutes, or around two and a half hours from Bangkok. There is currently no direct public transport service, so private vehicles are recommended.

Nearby attractions include Payoon Beach (about 10 km away), Nong Kho Reservoir in Si Racha District, Chonburi (around 18 km away), and Ban Chang Market, known for its local food and handmade goods. Together, they create a fulfilling one-day nature trip filled with peace and local charm.
