Khao Laem Ya is located within Khao Laem Ya–Mu Ko Samet National Park, Rayong Province. It is a popular natural attraction known for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful sea views. The area lies slightly past Ban Kon Ao along the beachside road. It features low coastal hills covering an area of about 680 rai, with parts extending into the sea and covered with small forests and grasslands, which is the origin of its name “Khao Laem Ya.”
The highlight of Khao Laem Ya is the viewpoint on the hilltop, where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Mae Ramphueng Beach. Especially at sunset, the sky and sea glow in shades of orange and gold, creating a stunning scene perfect for photography and relaxation. The front area of the hill is a long sandy beach with cool breezes throughout the day, ideal for a walk or simply sitting to enjoy the sea view. Some parts are safe for swimming. The site is also popular for camping, where visitors can pitch tents to enjoy sunrise and sunset by the sea.
The surrounding area remains largely natural, with a nature trail connecting the coastline and the hill slopes. From the path, visitors can see nearby islands such as Ko Samet and Ko Kudi. Within the area is the Headquarters of Khao Laem Ya–Mu Ko Samet National Park, which provides tourist information, accommodations, and camping areas for visitors.
Getting There: From downtown Rayong, take Sukhumvit Road (Highway No. 3) toward Ban Phe, then turn right onto Highway 3145 toward Mae Ramphueng Beach. Drive along the coastal road for about 6 kilometers, and you will find the entrance sign to Khao Laem Ya National Park just past Ban Kon Ao. Visitors can drive personal vehicles into the park easily. For public transport, take a songthaew (local minibus) from Ban Phe Market to the park entrance and walk a short distance uphill.
The peaceful surroundings make it an ideal place for outdoor activities such as watching the sunset from the hilltop, walking along the beach in the morning, camping overnight, and taking scenic photographs of the nearby islands. It is one of the most picturesque coastal viewpoints in Rayong.
