Darul Ibadah Mosque is one of the spiritual centers for Muslims in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. It is located in Moo 9, Pattaya Klang Village, on Sukhumvit Road, Nong Prue Subdistrict. This mosque plays an important role both religiously and socially, serving as a place for Islamic religious practices such as daily prayers, fasting during the month of Ramadan, and hosting important festivals like Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. It is also a gathering space for the local community to engage in social activities and strengthen communal bonds. The mosque was officially registered as No. 3 on June 19, 1952, reflecting its long-standing history of more than 70 years in promoting and preserving Islamic teachings in this region.

The Pattaya and Bang Lamung areas are among Thailand’s key economic and tourism hubs, attracting travelers from all over the world throughout the year. This has resulted in a diverse Muslim community living in the area. Darul Ibadah Mosque serves not only as a place of worship but also as a cultural bridge, fostering understanding and harmony among people of different backgrounds in this multicultural society. The mosque warmly welcomes both local Muslims and tourists who wish to learn about Islam and the lifestyle of the local Muslim community.

Getting to Darul Ibadah Mosque is very convenient, as it is located on Sukhumvit Road, the main route connecting Bangkok to Pattaya. Visitors traveling by private car can take Motorway Route No. 7 towards Pattaya, then continue onto Sukhumvit Road and head to Nong Prue Subdistrict. The mosque is situated not far from Pattaya Klang, the city center. Those without a private vehicle can easily access the mosque via public transportation such as songthaews (shared pickup trucks), buses, or local taxis.

Architecturally, Darul Ibadah Mosque features a design that combines simplicity with elegance, characteristic of Thai-style mosques. A dome serves as the mosque’s symbolic centerpiece, representing Islamic faith, accompanied by a minaret for the call to prayer. Inside, the prayer hall is well-maintained and orderly, with separate areas designated for men and women, in line with Islamic practice. The mosque also has a madrasah, or Islamic school, where young members of the community can study religious teachings and Arabic language.

During Ramadan, Darul Ibadah Mosque becomes the heart of the local Muslim community. People gather to perform nightly Tarawih prayers, break their fast together, and give charity to help those in need. At the end of Ramadan, the mosque hosts the Eid al-Fitr prayer, drawing large crowds who come to celebrate and seek blessings from Allah. During Eid al-Adha, another important Islamic festival, the mosque plays a key role in coordinating the ritual sacrifice of animals, with the meat distributed to underprivileged families within the community and surrounding areas.

Beyond its religious functions, Darul Ibadah Mosque is deeply involved in education and community development. It organizes classes for young people to learn Islamic teachings and the Arabic language, while also fostering a strong understanding of Thai culture. This dual focus helps youth deeply understand their faith while coexisting harmoniously in a diverse society. Such efforts strengthen the local community and promote peaceful coexistence between people of different beliefs.

Visitors interested in experiencing Darul Ibadah Mosque should dress modestly and respectfully, as it is a sacred place for Muslims. It is recommended to contact the mosque’s committee in advance to arrange a suitable time for visiting and to receive guidance on proper etiquette. Visiting this mosque offers not only the chance to learn about Islam but also the opportunity to witness the warmth, hospitality, and way of life of Pattaya’s Muslim community.

With its rich history dating back to 1952, Darul Ibadah Mosque stands as more than just a place of worship. It symbolizes faith, unity, and peaceful coexistence within a diverse society. Today, it remains an important landmark in Pattaya, reflecting the strong cultural and religious roots of the local community while serving as a valuable resource for those seeking a deeper understanding of Muslim life in Thailand.
