Chong Samaesan Fishing Village, Chonburi Province is a charming fishing village located at the tip of Sattahip Peninsula. It’s a favorite getaway for travelers seeking a peaceful atmosphere and a chance to experience the authentic lifestyle of local fishermen. The village is surrounded by a simple yet captivating environment, offering various types of accommodations such as family-run homestays, small resorts, and seaside houses with stunning ocean views. Many visitors come here to relax and enjoy fishing, as the area is well-known for its rich marine life. There are full services for boat rentals and fishing gear, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced anglers. The best time for fishing is between September and October when the sea is calm and ideal for catching fish like red snapper, grouper, beautiful emperor fish, bowmouth guitarfish, game fish, and shargram fish. This makes Chong Samaesan a true paradise for those passionate about fishing and looking for thrilling experiences with fresh catches straight from the sea.

Beyond fishing, the village serves as a gateway to nearby islands around Sattahip, such as Koh Kham and Koh Samaesan, both known for their clear waters and vibrant coral reefs, perfect for snorkeling or scuba diving. Visitors can hire boats from local fishermen for a private and flexible island-hopping experience. In addition, there are several local seafood restaurants in the village offering dishes made from the day’s freshest catch, giving you the chance to savor unique, authentic flavors—from shrimp and crabs to clams, fish, and special regional dishes.

Traveling to Chong Samaesan from Bangkok is quite convenient. You can take a bus from Ekkamai Bus Terminal to Sattahip District. Upon arrival, you can continue your journey by taking a songthaew (local shared pickup truck taxi) on the Sattahip–Samaesan route, which operates from 5:30 AM to 6:30 PM. For those driving, the journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic, using the Bangkok–Pattaya motorway before heading toward Sattahip and straight to the village.

What makes Chong Samaesan truly unique is the harmonious blend of tourism and the local fishing way of life. Visitors can witness fishermen setting out to sea in the early morning and returning to the pier with their fresh catch. It’s also a chance to engage with the community and learn about traditional fishing methods, crab trapping, or even net mending directly from the locals. This transforms a simple trip into a meaningful cultural experience.

During the high season from September to October, not only is fishing at its best, but the surrounding sea also becomes especially beautiful. The water is crystal clear, perfect for leisure and water activities such as kayaking, sunset cruises, or even just relaxing while fishing along the shore with a refreshing sea breeze. For eco-conscious travelers, the area is close to the Thai Island and Sea Natural History Museum and the Sea Turtle Conservation Center, both great spots to learn about marine ecosystems and rare aquatic species.

In short, Chong Samaesan Fishing Village is an ideal destination for both adventure lovers and those seeking tranquility. It combines natural beauty, marine abundance, and the charm of a traditional fishing lifestyle in one perfect package. Whether you’re there for fishing, snorkeling, island hopping, or simply immersing yourself in the local culture, the experience will leave lasting memories. Moreover, visiting supports the local community by providing sustainable income, helping them preserve their traditional way of life for future generations.
