Viharn Sien, officially known as Anek Kuson Sala, is one of the most significant cultural attractions in Chonburi Province. It is located near Wat Yansangwararam Woramahawihan, with a turnoff about 800 meters from the Bang Phra Reservoir dam crest. This magnificent Chinese-style hall was built in 1987 to commemorate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great’s 60th birthday, a milestone marking his fifth 12-year cycle. The construction of Viharn Sien symbolizes the strong bond between Thailand and China, showcasing a harmonious blend of art and culture from both nations.

The architecture of the building is purely traditional Chinese, featuring intricately designed multi-tiered roofs adorned with dragons, phoenixes, and other auspicious symbols. Inside, it functions as a museum displaying an impressive collection of rare and valuable Chinese art and antiquities, making it one of the most comprehensive Chinese museums in Thailand. Among its highlights is a large, intricately carved white jade statue of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, representing compassion and serenity. Visitors are also captivated by the life-sized replicas of the terracotta warriors and horses from the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, one of the wonders of the ancient world. Another prominent exhibit is the golden imperial throne, symbolizing the grandeur and power of ancient Chinese dynasties. The museum also houses ancient paintings, pottery, and artifacts from various dynastic eras, carefully organized to provide insight into China’s rich cultural history.

What makes Viharn Sien truly unique is the thoughtful layout that integrates Thai and Chinese elements seamlessly. The surrounding gardens are designed in the traditional Chinese style, featuring lush greenery and symbolic sculptures, creating a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. This makes it an ideal place for visitors to leisurely explore and appreciate the artistry up close while capturing stunning photographs. The museum is not only a tourist destination but also serves as an educational center for those interested in learning about Chinese history and fine arts, making it suitable for students, families, and cultural enthusiasts.

Getting to Viharn Sien is straightforward. Travelers can take Sukhumvit Road (Highway No. 3) heading towards Wat Yansangwararam Woramahawihan. Upon reaching the Bang Phra Reservoir dam, there is a clearly marked turnoff leading directly to the site, about 800 meters away. The location is easily accessible by private car or public transportation. Its proximity to other attractions like Wat Yansangwararam, Khao Chi Chan (the Buddha Mountain), and Silverlake Vineyard makes it a convenient stop for those planning a cultural day trip around Pattaya and Chonburi.

Viharn Sien is more than just a tourist attraction; it is a cultural heritage center that preserves and showcases the artistry and history of Chinese civilization in Thailand. Visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of intricate craftsmanship, experience the majesty of ancient history, and enjoy the serene surroundings that invite reflection and peace. It is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to broaden their cultural horizons and appreciate the timeless elegance of Eastern art. Whether you are traveling with family, friends, or as a solo explorer, Viharn Sien offers a deeply enriching experience that lingers long after your visit.
