Wat Muang Intha Buri, Intha Buri, Sing Buri. Located in In Buri Subdistrict, along the western bank of the Chao Phraya River, Wat Muang can be reached by turning left approximately 2.5 kilometers from the main road near In Buri Market along the Asian Highway. It is believed to have been established in the early Rattanakosin period, around 1822 CE (BE 2365). The temple was originally surrounded by many mango trees, leading to its name, Wat Muang (“Temple of the Mango Trees”).
Within the temple grounds, there is an ancient vihara, a rectangular structure with a protruding portico. The gable of the vihara is adorned with decorative ceramic ware. Inside, a principal Buddha image in the Mara Vichaya posture, noted for its exquisite artistry, sits on a lion-shaped base known as Singha, supported by a large lotus pedestal. The ceiling of the vihara is decorated with painted star patterns.
The interior walls feature murals painted with local pigments, showcasing the craftsmanship of regional artists. These murals, believed to date back to the reign of King Rama IV, depict the life and stories of the Buddha, as well as scenes of everyday life and cultural practices of the ancient society. The murals vividly capture the essence of traditional Thai life during that period.
