Wat Thap Khlo in Phichit Province, also known as “Suan Bodhisattva,” is a significant Buddhist site that embodies peace, serenity, and faith. Located in Tambon Thap Khlo, within Soi Thesaban Thap Khlo 5, the temple was originally established as “Suan Phra Bodhisattva” in 1977 by Phra Maha Koson Chantavano and local devotees. It was later officially recognized as a temple on September 24, 1992, and received royal consecration boundaries (Wisungkhamsima) in 1998.

Covering an area of more than 111 rai, the temple is surrounded by lush greenery and a tranquil natural environment, making it an ideal place for Vipassana meditation. Its peaceful atmosphere has made it the first temple in Phichit to be officially designated as a “Provincial Meditation Center” by the Supreme Sangha Council in 2002. This recognition was achieved under the leadership of Phra Khru Wisutthipawanakhun, or Phra Maha Koson Chantavano, a highly respected meditation master who dedicated his life to teaching and spreading the Dhamma.

Beyond its religious role, Wat Thap Khlo has played an important part in education and social development. One of its key contributions is the establishment of the Chalermrajkumari Public Library, which was graciously inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on February 1, 1993. This library stands as a symbol of how Buddhism, learning, and community development are intertwined within the temple’s mission.

The temple has also received national recognition, being awarded as a model temple for development in both 2004 and 2005. In 2003, it was further honored with the Dharma Wheel Boundary Marker for its outstanding contributions to Buddhism. In addition, the temple founded the “Patient Care Center for Ailing Monks” in 2002, which provides healthcare support for monks, novices, and local residents. This center has become a prototype and has since expanded its services to over 476 temples across Phichit Province.

Another remarkable project currently underway is the construction of Phra Phuttha Metta, a monumental Buddha image measuring 80 meters in height and 80 meters in width at its base. Once completed, it will serve as a major landmark for Buddhism and a spiritual symbol for devotees nationwide.

Today, Wat Thap Khlo continues to be a sanctuary of peace, wisdom, and compassion. It remains a vital center for religious practice, education, community support, and cultural heritage. Visitors are welcome to experience the temple’s serene environment, meditate, and pay respects every day from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, free of charge.

Wat Thap Khlo (Suan Bodhisattva) is not only a place of beauty and tranquility but also a center of faith, knowledge, and community development, preserving the timeless values of Buddhism while adapting to the needs of modern society.
