Kaeng Bang Rachan in Phetchabun is an eco-tourism destination famous for its peaceful river, lush forest, and rare freshwater jellyfish. Located in Nong Mae Na, Khao Kho District, this destination offers a unique experience of boating through pristine nature and discovering one of the rarest aquatic species in the world.

 

The area is managed by the local community, allowing visitors to experience authentic rural life while ensuring sustainable tourism. The Khek River flowing through the area is a calm mountain river with clear water, making it ideal for eco-friendly activities such as rowing and nature observation.

 

The highlight is the freshwater jellyfish (Crasapedacusta sowerbyi), which can be seen during sunny days between 10:00 and 16:00, especially from March to May. This rare species places Thailand among the few countries in the world where it can be found.

 

Visitors can also enjoy butterfly watching at Kaeng Song, where rare species appear during sunny hours. Activities include boat trips, camping, and nature exploration.

 

Getting There Take Highway 21 from Phetchabun to Lom Sak, turn at Ban Na Ngua onto Highway 2258, and continue to Nong Mae Na for about 30 km.
