The name of the temple is related to a nearby temple called “Wat Sai Ma Tai” (Sai Ma South Temple). To distinguish between the two, this temple was named “Wat Sai Ma Nuea,” indicating its northern location. One of the notable features of Wat Sai Ma Nuea is its riverside pier, where a large number of fish gather in the Chao Phraya River.
