Nonthaburi Provincial Museum is an important cultural and historical learning center located near Nonthaburi Pier in Mueang Nonthaburi District. The museum is housed in a beautifully preserved teakwood building that once served as the old Nonthaburi Provincial Hall during the reign of King Rama VI. Today, the building has been carefully restored and transformed into a provincial museum that serves as a center for collecting, preserving, and presenting the history, culture, and local wisdom of Nonthaburi. The exhibitions inside the museum are thoughtfully organized into 8 rooms, each telling a different part of Nonthaburi’s story. Visitors begin their journey at the reception hall, where satellite maps and multimedia displays introduce the province as it is today. This section also showcases the provincial motto, symbols, and key characteristics of Nonthaburi.

 

The next section focuses on the old provincial hall itself. Through scale models and rare historical photographs, visitors can explore the architectural details of the building and trace its transformation over the past 100 years. This provides valuable insight into how the province evolved in terms of governance and infrastructure.

 

One of the highlights of the museum is the exhibition that presents Nonthaburi as a historic fruit-growing region along the Chao Phraya River. Getting There is convenient both by land and water. Visitors can take public buses such as routes 32, 63, 97, 114, 175, 203, 543, and 545 and get off at Nonthaburi Pier, then walk approximately 2–3 minutes to the museum. Alternatively, taking the Chao Phraya Express Boat to Nonthaburi Pier is one of the most scenic ways to arrive, offering a pleasant riverside travel experience.

 

The surrounding area is filled with the charm of a traditional riverside community. Visitors can enjoy local street food, walk along the pier, or continue their journey to nearby attractions such as Koh Kret.
