Dong Wiang Kaen Ancient City, located in Moo 3, Ban Muang, Muang Yai Subdistrict, Wiang Kaen District, Chiang Rai Province, is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in Northern Thailand. The site is situated on elevated land approximately 30 – 35 meters high and lies only about 200 meters southeast of Wiang Kaen District center, making it a highly strategic location for establishing a city in the past.
 
The area of Dong Wiang Kaen Ancient City covers approximately 286 rai, 1 ngan, and 86.09 square wah, surrounded by a naturally rich forest ecosystem.
