Tang Seng Chua San Phutad Tang Seng Chua San Phutad, Bang Pakong – Chachoengsao Road, next to San Phutad Subdistrict Municipality, Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao Province.
Tang Seng Chua San Phutad is a well-known bakery specializing in traditional Chinese mooncakes (ขนมเปี๊ยะ), located along the Chachoengsao – Phanom Sarakham Road. The shop officially opened on December 3, 2022, and despite its recent opening, it quickly became a popular checkpoint for visitors in Chachoengsao. Especially in early 2023, the shop became widely discussed, thanks to its unique and modern design.
The origins of Tang Seng Chua San Phutad date back to 1932, founded by Mr. Hok Sae Tang. Initially, the shop was located in Bang Khla Market, the only shop selling mooncakes in the area. The local people called it "Bang Khla Mooncakes" due to its exclusivity. Mr. Hok, who had worked at a Chinese bakery in China, brought over a meticulously crafted mooncake recipe from the Teochew region in China, which made his mooncakes distinctive and different from others. This unique recipe quickly gained recognition and popularity among customers.
In 1981, Tang Seng Chua San Phutad earned recognition from the prestigious Shell Chuan Chim (recommended by M.R. Thanadsri Swatdilawat), which significantly increased its fame. Over the years, the mooncakes have been continuously improved by introducing new fillings such as snow lotus seed, bael fruit, mocha, chocolate, pork floss, golden threads, grapes, and durian, although the mung bean paste filling remains a perennial favorite.
One of the highlights of the shop is its modern and beautiful packaging design, which has become a well-received gift by both the giver and the receiver. In 2022, the shop relocated to a new, larger space of 4 rai (about 1.6 acres) at km 13 on the Chachoengsao – Phanom Sarakham Road. The design of the new shop is more spacious and luxurious, incorporating real materials to create a more refined and contemporary look. The architecture has been simplified, removing intricate Chinese details to provide a more modern atmosphere suitable for all generations. This new design not only expanded the space but also created a fresh experience for visitors.
Tang Seng Chua San Phutad is a prime example of how to preserve the traditional identity of mooncakes while evolving to meet the needs of modern customers. The shop has become a popular destination for tourists and locals in Chachoengsao, showing that even a business focused on traditional products can thrive and grow with the right design and innovation.
