Wat Sunthawas was built as a temple since around 1983 during the reign of King Borom Rachathirat II of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. The villagers often call it "Wat Sunthara", formerly known as "Wat Chai Na", "Wat Plai Na", and some have been granted Wisung Kham Sima around the year B.E. 2385 Wisungkhamsima District, width 22 meters, length 27.80 meters.

When Somdej Prince Krom Muen Jetsadabodin Ascended to the throne as successor to His Majesty King Buddhalertla Naphalai, the reign of King Rama 2, Phra Udompitakaban was invited to attend the coronation ceremony as well. because he is good at Pali So he said his hobbies in Pali language to bless him. It is so popular that it is ordered to be used as a tradition in succession ceremonies. and is still in use today.
 
Regarding education, there is Wat Sunthawas School. and Udom Wittayon School Located in this temple, which the temple has given appropriate support. Currently, the abbot of the field said Phra Maha Chaysak Sunutharammo.
