Wat Sunthawas was built as a temple since around 1983 during the reign of King Borom Rachathirat II of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. The villagers often call it "Wat Sunthara", formerly known as "Wat Chai Na", "Wat Plai Na", and some have been granted Wisung Kham Sima around the year B.E. 2385 Wisungkhamsima District, width 22 meters, length 27.80 meters.

It is so popular that it is ordered to be used as a tradition in succession ceremonies. and is still in use today.
