City Pillar Shrine (Mahesak) Chao Phor Mahesak is a sacred object that Roi Et people have been revered since ancient times. believed to reside in the moat to the east of Wat Burapha Phiram Mueang Roi Et District But in ancient times, the shrine was built as 3 wooden towers in the moat.
 
Later, the shrine, built over a hundred years ago, is very dilapidated and is not suitable as a place of worship for the people of the city.
 
In the year 1966, the province, by the governor of Mr. Winyu Angkanarak, together with the municipality, with Mr. Suthee Om as the mayor, has established a fundraising committee created by Phrakru Siriwutmethee (Phuttha Siriwutto), the abbot of Wat Burapha Phiram, is a patron. but not enough money had to continue to supply until 1967, so the foundation stone laying ceremony of Chao Pho Mahesak Shrine was held on December 21, 1967 by building the site of the shrine as a Thai-style reinforced concrete building, totaling construction costs 45,000 baht (forty-five thousand baht) and was completed in 1968.
 
Roi Et people will call for good luck and protection to be safe. Godfather Mahesak and are often called together "Mahesak Lak Muang" to remember and pray for blessings and protection.
