The Ancient Site of Wat Nang Kui Located at 30 Moo 5, Tambon Samphao Lom, is a temple located outside the southern city island. next to the Chao Phraya River on the west side Built in the Ayutthaya period, over 400 years old, the person who built Wat Nang Kui named "Nang Kui" was a wealthy person who built a temple.
In the past, this temple was very prosperous. Later, after the 2nd loss of Ayutthaya, Wat Nang Kui was left to disintegrate. Until arriving in the Rattanakosin reign of King Rama 3 has come to restore various temples. in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.
Wat Nang Kui is one of the temples that have been restored in various parts such as the ubosot, the gable of Vishnu on Garuda and the twin parapet, as well as the chedi and prang. The Fine Arts Department has announced the registration of ancient monuments on March 18, 1941.
Inside the Ubosot enshrines “Stone Buddha images in the Dvaravati period” in the meditation posture and “Luang Por Yim”, a Buddha image in the attitude of subduing Mara, carved from golden teak and lacquered with gold, is an old amulet that has been with the temple for a long time.
From the stories of the old people that in the past Luang Pho Yim floated along the Chao Phraya River and was stuck in front of the temple. The abbot has invited Luang Pho Yim to enshrine since then.
There is also Mae Takhian Thong Shrine It is a large Takhian tree shrine that has been in the temple for more than 400 years and has perennially died around the year B.E. In 1997, the temple was carved into the image of Mae Takhianthong. and put it on the original stump for people to come to worship.
